Today kicked off with an unexpected wake up alarm—courtesy of the helicopter circling the track, getting some practice runs in with its cameras. Waking up to that rumble and the sweeping views from above was pretty cool, but the day itself was a little quieter as we wait for the real action to start tomorrow.
The morning was chilly, a sharp reminder that Texas autumn mornings don’t mess around and you never know what you're going to get. To make things a little trickier, the clouds started rolling in, which has me keeping an eye on the solar panel. If the sun doesn’t come out to play, that means I'm on power rations for the camper—not exactly ideal!

Most of the day turned into a "work from home" session. There’s something novel about setting up your office near an F1 track, even on a calm day. With my laptop on the table, the hum of distant generators, and the occasional pass of a golf cart, it was a far cry from a typical office setup.
Eventually, I made a quick Target run. The campground’s rocky ground means dust everywhere, so I grabbed a carpet runner for the camper to keep things a bit cleaner. And, since it’s almost Halloween, I also jumped on Amazon to order the costumes for the kids—nothing like last-minute costume shopping in the middle of an F1 campground.
All in all, it was a low-key day, the calm before the racing storm. Tomorrow, the engines roar to life, and I can’t wait to soak up the full experience.
